Arlington Democratic Town Committee meeting April 8

The next meeting of the Arlington Democratic Town Committee is Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the Function Room at Donut Villa, 319 Broadway. (Our May meeting will be on Zoom.)

Our first order of business will be electing new officers, which we’re required by law to do every two years. We will be electing a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Affirmative Action and Outreach Advisor. Our incumbents are running for re-election: Chair Stephanie Swanson, Vice Chair Lisa Pedulla, Secretary Kim Haase, Treasurer Richard McElroy, and Affirmative Action and Outreach Advisor Robin Cohen.

Any voting member who would like to run for any of these positions is encouraged to send an email to our new mailing list, arlingtondems@groups.io, to notify members. State Sen. Cindy Friedman will preside over the meeting until the officers are elected. A Google form will be used as a ballot for all competitive positions; candidates for uncontested positions will be elected by a show of hands. The main portion of the meeting will be a discussion on immigration led by a staffer from the ACLU of Massachusetts. This discussion will cover the current immigration landscape; state and local policy updates; community responses across Massachusetts; and how you can take action.
